Project
The Azul de Cortés development will be a unique destination in the Baja California
Sur region. While retaining the character of this coastal area, the resort will
integrate the traditional local landscape with the modern concept of sustainability.
The quality of the landscaping, the breathtaking views, together with the village's
setting, integrating green recreational areas, pathways and a golf course, will
all combine to make Azul de Cortés an unparalleled development.
The development will combine a natural, rural setting with the comforts of modern
life. The residential villas, whether they are situated on the hillsides or on the
coastal plains, will all enjoy privileged views of the surrounding area. The villas
will be laid out in village style, with the grassy expanses of the golf course and
the pathways for walkers, cyclists and horses forming a green network linking the
properties.
A grassy parkland avenue running alongside one of the area's watercourses will serve
as the resort's main communication route. Making use of the natural lie of the land,
features will be introduced into the low-lying areas to catch the attention of passers-by
and draw their eyes towards the coast and hills. Small lakes are planned to lend
an air of tranquillity to the views and to revitalize the park's waterways during
dry spells.
The areas towards the coast will be developed along the beach to provide a fluid
and permeable relationship with the inland areas. Although the sea is the main attraction
of this area, the mountains are also a striking feature of the landscape and contribute
to the truly exceptional geographical setting.
The Hotel Villas and the Mexican Village will form the focal point of the resort.
From there, the resort will open out towards a coastal fishing village, the tennis
club and the neighbouring residential areas. Within this setting, the Village will
be at the hub of the area's tourist activity. It will accommodate a wide range of
commercial and recreational facilities and residential properties in the hills.
The golf course will constitute a visual feature, viewable from the villages. This
18-hole golf course starts and ends at the Golf Club and clubhouse, which enjoy
a magnificent location on the hill-top. Alongside the clubhouse, the mountain villas
nestle into the hillside and enjoy stunning views of the golf course and sea below.
In order to conserve the area's natural beauty, a green belt will be created in
the direction of the mountains. This will blend into the mountain range, giving
a natural feel to the development and transforming it into a hillside parkland with
views of the valley and the whole resort.
With conservation in mind, access to the area will follow the current access route.
The road runs through an adjoining valley, flanked by hills, which acts as a natural
lung, where crops are grown that will supply the resort. This scenic route continues
through natural parkland and farming areas offering views of the surrounding landscape
which will gradually give way to clearer views of the resort and the sea.
